We’ve all been asked the proverbial question: if you were stranded on a desert island, what 5 beauty products are you grabbing - well, that’s not this blog topic (lol~!) but close.  Instead, I’m here to share 5 badass exfoliators that you should consider owning.  Before naming them, I should probably share just what an exfoliator is and why your skin will thank you for using one.

Exfoliation has two functions; slough off dead skin cells and improve skin texture (low key it helps with hyperpigmentation too).   If you’ve been following me, listening to any note worthy beauty podcast, like Naked Beauty, Fat Mascara or the ultimate; maybe you’re subscribed to the Violet Grey newsletter like the rest of us skin obsessed but either way, the mention of two kinds of exfoliators (physical & chemical) is commonly talked about.

As a quick refresher, the physical exfoliator uses itty bitty grains or granules to do the “heavy lifting” whereas the chemical ones do it using facial acids.  My personal favorite thee chemical version, particularly the fruit enzyme-based ones that take down my dead skin cells like the best clapback ever.

Now let’s get into what you came here for: oh yes! The 5-Badass exfoliators your shelfie should have.  Lean in, Sis!

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant - no wonder it’s one of the Brands top sellers, this rice-based enzyme powder works as a micro-exfoliant, I notice how it leaves my skin noticeably smoother and brighter as soon as it’s washed off, no lie.  Once it’s activated with water, it releases papain, salicylic acid and rice to accelerate cell renewal.  Who don’t want that?  This exfoliant also plays well with my Essence. I faithfully use the iconic SK-II Pitera and love love the combined effects. I’d go on a limb and say, it’s a game changer! $59.

Sanitas Skincare Pumpkin Enzyme Mask - this baby also brightens, it uses organic fruit enzymes to get the heavy lifting done.  [Like I talked about earlier, clears throat.] What I found unique was that it also uses humectants and antioxidants to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, making it extra hard for wrinkles to exist within hydrated skin. $34.

Peter Thomas Roth (Pumpkin Enzyme Mask) - their claim to fame (a three-in-one skin resurfacer that exfoliates, peels, and visibly polishes) lisssten, we skincare lovers know full well how Pumpkin exfoliation gets our skin togethaaa - in short, this lil’ powerhouse Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) chemically peels to help reveal younger radiant-looking skin, again I ask - “who don’t want that?” $59.

Tatcha The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser - she thick! which could be a bonus for some or a  turnoff for others; for me - I like!  I also like how gentle yet effective this cleanser is.  Similar to the other’s listed, it’s fruit enzymes gently exfoliates to purify and smooth skin texture—the  intranets like to say it’s the original inspiration for the modern day loofah sponge. $38.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid - listed last but might be my 2nd fav’ among this list, you ask why - its because this bad boy is like a workhorse.  Paula is affectionately knowns as the Cosmetic Cop and knows her stuff so when she launched her own product line, it was a no brainer for me….but I digressed, why I love this BHA so much is that it legit unclogs & diminish your pores, combats redness, wrinkles, aging, blackheads - basically all the things’.  When I say dead skin cells gon’ - like, SERIOUSLY.   The bonus, I use it religiously to banish my breakouts.  $29.50

Okay now you should be all. set, I just ran down a cute lil’ list to gaze.  You might not buy all (5) like me but at least you have a few suggestions to consider.

Now go forth and glow up Sis!  Time for me to go research more fun stuff for the next glam drop.  Want more glam news? Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter for continued tea and oooh I love comments…
