Eight ways to keep your bridal suite zen!

It’s the morning of your wedding and you’ve booked your bridal suite for glam styling, but have you considered the vibes?! Have you pictured all the coming and goings on this high adrenaline morning; all the chatter, all us vendors (florist, photographer, videographer, hair, makeup, wedding coordinator, room service deliveries), the champagne bottle pops, the barrage of questions - in short, all the chaos!!

Ideally, you want the room to prepare both physically and mentally before saying “I do” to your life partner. Will your room be meant to collect your thoughts or be the pre-game event filled with music, laughter and all the rah rah?! These are questions you should ask yourself ahead of this special day. Take stock, do you have all your essentials and if you don’t - can your Bridal squad get them or get it done? You might assume your planner can punt any task but often times they’re occupied with other coordination; the reality IS - their list is long and who knows’ what problem solving they have to sort out. Fully transparency, the really good planners, will ensure you never know what’s going on behind the curtain.

Outside of your essentials, I want to talk about things to request, expect, look out for, etc.

Here are eight ways to keep your bridal suite zen:

1.) Request - great lighting during your room/suite selection.

Sufficient lighting includes DAY LIGHT, if the room has plenty of windows - bravo! Something else to consider; cloudy days or early mornings impact the amount of natural light so additional lights are often needed. If your Artist can lugg portable lights that’s a win!

2.) Request - a length mirror if at all possible.

Full length tells the whole story and your Photog will likely play off the mirror when posing you and your entourage.

3.) Request - a wide table and a barstool.

Both are needed during your styling. A wide table to spread our artistry kits and the barstool height for your comfort. The table needs to be completely clear of items.

4.) Request - dressing robes if you won’t already have yours packed.

Getting ready can involve coffee, mimosa’s (the last thing you want are stains), let’s avoid any potential disasters.

5.) Request - a steamer.

That’s out of my wheelhouse, but something to consider for unwanted crinkles and wedding day attire.

6.) Request - refreshments.

Everyone should eat something; especially YOU!! Hydration is also key, lots of water to counter the coffee & champagne (both are diuretic) and cause dehydration. The more hydrated you are, the better your skin will look! I preach this the moment we meet for your Wedding Trial.

7.) Pack lint free tissue, bridal emergency kits and a portable hand fan in case you overheat from all the frenzy.

8.) Don’t expect your day to be absolutely perfect!

Lastly, we come to expectations. Remember! nothing is perfect so don’t put that kind of pressure on this sacred day. Expect your entourage to step in (in case) something goes awry - I once had a Brides’ earrings temporarily vanish and she really needed her family & friends to keep her calm in that moment of panic. Looking in endless bags for small items like earrings, keys, even your phone eats up time and on this day - remember, we’re all on a timeline.

As I said before, your planner may be elsewhere, so counting on your squad or a designated point person to manage communications between the bridal suite, venue, etc., could really absorb the chaos and nerves. Ultimately, we want all your needs taken care of before walking down the aisle. Your life partner awaits you - being centered, present, happy and free of worry is how this day should unfold.
